Corpus Christi bans parking on front lawns or any unpaved surface in residential areas. All vehicles must park on improved surfaces of concrete, asphalt, or brick. Violations carry fines up to $500.
The Corpus Christi City Council adopted an ordinance prohibiting vehicles from parking on any residential lot surface that is not concrete, asphalt, or brick. Parking on grass, dirt, gravel, or other unpaved surfaces in front or side yards is unlawful. Limited exceptions exist for properties that lack an improved driveway or that adjoin a street or alley less than 28 feet wide. Driveways must connect to the public right-of-way and comply with the Unified Development Code width and material standards. The ordinance was enacted after years of code enforcement complaints about neighborhood degradation from yard parking. First-offense penalties are up to $500. Report violations through Corpus Christi 311 at (361) 826-2489.
