Daytona Beach, FL Sign Regulations: Freeway-Facing Signs (2026)

2 of the Land Development Code defines billboards as outdoor signs advertising goods or services not located on the same premises as the sign, covering poster panels, indexing signs, painted bulletins, printed vinyl fabric displays, and digital billboards. Billboards are prohibited outright in all of the City's redevelopment areas. Everywhere else in the city, they are prohibited except within 100 feet of the right-of-way line of Interstate 95, which is the only corridor where new billboards may be located. Within that narrow band, billboards must meet a stack of standards: a minimum 15-foot setback from the right-of-way line, no roof-mounted billboards, no billboard within 1,500 feet of another billboard on the same side of I-95, a ban on side-by-side or vertically stacked double-tier billboards, a maximum height of 26 feet above the crown of the adjacent interstate travel lane, sign faces set at least eight feet above ground, and a maximum sign area of 450 square feet per face including embellishments.

New billboards along I-95 cannot display copy until the City has approved the sign's location, size, height, and the installation of required landscape materials and irrigation consistent with the City Commission's adopted master interstate billboard landscape details. V-shaped or back-to-back billboards count as a single sign for spacing purposes only if the structures sit no more than 15 feet apart at their widest point.
