06 sets the permitted freestanding sign schedule for commercial districts along six named arterials: Adams Avenue, Beach Boulevard, Brookhurst Street, Edinger Avenue, Goldenwest Street and Warner Avenue. Subsection (A)(1)(e) addresses regional mall identification signs specifically, allowing one sign per street frontage at a maximum height of 25 feet and maximum area of 100 square feet. The same table entry adds a distinct freeway allowance beyond that street-frontage sign: one freeway sign, measured at a maximum height of 25 feet above the freeway grade, with a maximum sign area of 200 square feet, double the area allowed for the mall's street-facing identification sign.

This is the only freeway-oriented static sign standard in the permitted-sign schedule; it does not apply to ordinary commercial parcels, only to sites carrying a regional mall identification sign along the listed arterials. 88, and the schedule notes that meeting the numeric maximums does not by itself ensure approval, since compatibility with the Urban Design Element of the General Plan is also weighed. Any sign proposed under this freeway allowance that departs from the 25-foot/200-square-foot cap, or that is proposed for a site without a qualifying regional mall identification sign, falls outside this exemption and must be evaluated under the general sign-permit and variance provisions elsewhere in Chapter 233.
