Clarksville, TN Sign Regulations: Garage Sale Signs (2026)

Title 5, Chapter 6 governs yard sales, which the code treats as the same thing as garage sales. Section 5-606 requires the holder to live in Clarksville and to register name, phone number, location and date with the building official. Section 5-607 caps holders at two sales per year, each running no more than three consecutive days, and refers anyone exceeding that to the Business Tax Act and sales tax. Section 5-608 confines advertising to temporary signs within the yard or space where the sale is held and bans posting on telephone or utility poles. Residential districts separately allow unlighted freestanding signs of six square feet or less, one per street frontage, under Zoning Ordinance Sections 8.3(1) and 8.3(4).
