Galt Municipal Code Title 18 treats garage sale signs as temporary off-site directional signs subject to these standards: maximum 4 square feet per sign face, maximum height 4 feet, placed on private property with express permission of the owner, and outside the public right-of-way. Signs attached to utility poles, street light poles, traffic signs, trees in the parkway strip, or placed in median strips are prohibited and may be removed by city staff without notice. Signs must be removed within 24 hours after the garage sale concludes. The posting of signs before the start of the sale is limited to typically no more than 3 days. Failure to remove signs may result in citation and sign removal by the city.
