Grant County, WA Sign Regulations: Garage Sale Signs (2026)

150(b)(8) lists yard sale and garage sale signs, along with auction, festival, and grand-opening banners, among the on-premise signs exempt from the county's sign permit requirement, but only within two conditions. First, the sign cannot be permanently affixed to a building or sign structure, and it cannot be displayed for more than forty-five days during any 365-day period, whether that is one continuous run or several shorter postings that add up. Second, the sign cannot be relocated from spot to spot on the same lot; the exemption covers one fixed placement, not a sign moved around the property to chase visibility.

150 still applies the section's general prohibitions and requirements, including (e) through (h), covering placement outside the vision-clearance triangle at intersections, no signs on utility poles or in the public right-of-way, and no strobe, rotating, or audible signs. 150(c): signs of 32 square feet or less are allowed outright once permitted, while anything larger requires a Discretionary Use review by the Administrative Official. Development Services in Ephrata administers sign permit applications and can waive some application materials, such as structural drawings, when it decides the information is not relevant to the review.
