Section 8.14.070(C), 'Yard Sale Advertising,' allows sellers to inform or solicit buyers through any method including signs, handbills, newspaper advertisements and direct personal contact, but sets specific conditions on signage. Any sign displayed must list the date(s) of the yard sale, and signs must be removed within forty-eight (48) hours of the ending sale date. The subsection also bars littering streets and alleys and posting signs on public property, telephone and electric poles, or on private property without the owner's permission, regardless of the yard-sale exemption that otherwise applies to sale advertising. Failure to remove a sign within the 48-hour window is called out specifically in § 8.14.070(C)(5) as subjecting the responsible party to the enforcement actions and penalties set out elsewhere in Chapter 8.14, tying sign cleanup directly to the chapter's misdemeanor penalty at § 8.14.110 rather than leaving it as an unenforced courtesy rule.
