Redmond garage sale signs are allowed on private property during the sale only, up to 4 sq ft and 3 off-site signs per sale. Signs may not sit on utility poles or in the right-of-way per RMC 21.60.
Temporary garage sale, yard sale, and moving sale signs are regulated as noncommercial temporary signs under RMC 21.60 sign code. Signs may be placed on private property with owner permission without a permit during the sale event and the 24 hours prior to and following the sale. Maximum size is 4 square feet per sign, with no more than 3 signs per sale residence. Garage sale signs on the sale property itself may display up to 6 square feet total signage per frontage. Signs cannot be placed in the public right-of-way, attached to utility poles, traffic control signs, street trees, fences not owned by the sign poster, bus stops, or any public property. Signs in the right-of-way are routinely removed by Public Works and Code Enforcement and disposed of if not claimed within 10 days. Signs must not be placed at intersections where they obstruct the clear-vision triangle (RMC 21.52). All signs must be removed within 24 hours after the sale concludes. Unremoved signs are treated as abandoned signs and may be removed at owner expense.
Civil penalty up to $100 under RMC 21.60 per sign violation. Signs in right-of-way may be removed without notice and disposal fee may apply.
