Bellevue, WA Sign Regulations: Garage Sale Signs (2026)

Temporary garage sale, yard sale, and estate sale signs in Bellevue fall under Land Use Code Chapter 20.30G as temporary directional signs. Signs must be displayed only on private property with the owner's consent (yours or with permission). Each sign cannot exceed 4 square feet in residential zones. Signs may be posted up to 48 hours before the sale and must be removed within 24 hours after the sale ends. Placement in the public right-of-way is prohibited: no signs on utility poles, street trees, traffic signs, medians, planter strips, or city-owned property. Placement on private property without owner consent (including commercial signs taped to windows or fences) is also prohibited. Violations result in Code Compliance removal and a civil infraction fine of up to 100 dollars per sign. For multi-family garage sales, the property manager must coordinate sign locations.
