Sammamish does not have a separate garage-sale-sign rule. Directional or event signs are handled under the general temporary-sign provisions. A small A-frame sign in the right-of-way may be up to 6 sq ft and 3.5 ft tall for only 5 consecutive days, and signs may not block sidewalks, travel lanes, or sight distance.
Sammamish does not publish a garage-sale-sign-specific ordinance. Temporary signs are governed by Chapter 21A.45 SMC (and Chapter 21B.45 SMC in the Town Center), updated by Ordinance O2017-436. For non-commercial messages the city defines an A-frame sign in the City right-of-way (Type 2) at up to 6 square feet and 3.5 feet in height for a maximum of 5 consecutive days - the short window most relevant to a weekend sale - and a non-A-frame right-of-way sign (Type 1) at up to 4 square feet and 3 feet above grade. On private property a temporary sign may be up to 32 square feet and 8 feet tall with the owner's permission. Signs may not be illuminated, may not harm trees or landscaping, and are prohibited in center medians, traffic circles or islands, roundabouts and their outer edges, vehicle travel lanes, sidewalks, planting strips adjacent to City-owned land, and on traffic-control, utility, or signal poles. On roads without sidewalks, a sign must be placed entirely outside the edge of the asphalt and may not overhang it. Because the city's published categories are content-neutral, treat a garage-sale or directional sign under these same limits, and remove it promptly after the sale. Confirm specifics with the Permit Center, as commercial-message signs may face additional restrictions.
Garage-sale or directional signs placed in violation of Chapter 21A.45 or 21B.45 SMC are subject to enforcement and possible removal under SMC 21A.45.100. Owners are responsible for removing signs after the allowed duration.
