West Bloomfield, MI Sign Regulations: Garage Sale Signs (2026)

Section 19-18 ties garage sale signage to the permit itself: the clerk's permit fee includes two official garage sale signs, and an applicant may buy up to three more at $5.00 each from the clerk's office. Section 19-19(c) makes clear that only township-issued signs may be used to advertise a garage sale, capping the total displayed anywhere in the township at five signs per sale; signs may go up only on the actual sale dates and must be removed the day after the sale ends.

Subsection (d) sets placement rules: no garage sale sign may sit inside the public road right-of-way, and every sign must be placed at least twenty feet off the edge of the road. Signs cannot be attached to a fence, post, wall, tree, pole or any other structure in a street, highway, alley or public place, and placing a sign on private property requires that property owner's permission first. The same article governs estate sale signage under § 19-23(c)-(d), but with different numbers: up to fifteen estate sale signs of no more than three square feet each, following the same twenty-foot road setback and right-of-way ban.
