Brevard County allows residential holiday displays without permits. Displays must not obstruct sight lines or rights-of-way. Sea turtle lighting restrictions apply on coastal parcels from May 1 to October 31 per FL Β§379.2431.
Brevard County does not require permits for residential holiday decorations. Displays must not block sidewalks, driveways, or sight triangles at intersections. Electrical displays must use UL-listed outdoor-rated equipment. Inflatable decorations must be secured against Atlantic coastal winds. Most notably, properties east of SR A1A and within the Brevard County Sea Turtle Lighting Ordinance (Code Β§62-4204) must comply with sea turtle lighting restrictions from May 1 through October 31 regardless of holiday season. This means no light visible from the beach during nesting season. Holiday lights on beachside properties must be shielded, low-wattage, or turned off after dark during turtle nesting. HOAs may impose additional time limits on holiday displays.
Obstruction: notice to correct. Sea turtle lighting violations during nesting season: $500 first offense, up to $5,000 for repeat violations per FWC enforcement. Electrical hazards: fire marshal may order removal.
