St. Tammany Parish, LA Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Section 32-3 makes it unlawful for any peddler to enter upon private premises posted with a sign stating 'No Peddlers Allowed' or 'No Solicitations Allowed' or other words to that effect; this is the parish's mechanism for a property-by-property opt-out rather than a centralized do-not-solicit registry. A peddler who does enter and then refuses to leave after being told to do so by the owner, occupant, or their agent commits a separate misdemeanor under section 32-4. the following morning, or at any time on Sundays, except by specific appointment with or invitation from the prospective customer.

Section 32-5 separately bars peddlers from making false or fraudulent statements about the quality of their goods or services to induce a sale. These protections apply to 'peddlers' as defined in section 32-1: anyone traveling house to house or place to place selling goods, wares, merchandise or services, including those taking orders for future delivery. The exemptions in section 32-2 carve out dealers selling to permanent merchants, public officers selling under legal process, bona fide state residents selling their own farm produce, permitted nonprofit organizations, and non-commercial door-to-door advocates disseminating religious, political or ideological views, none of whom are bound by the sign or hours restriction.
