The rule then goes further than a time window: it bars contact altogether wherever the residence itself, or the neighborhood or subdivision as a whole, has "No Soliciting" posted, so an entire HOA that puts up entrance signage takes itself off-limits to every permitted seller at once, not just the individual homes that post their own signs.

Because § 6-1-280's opening paragraph exempts religious, charitable and political canvassers from the whole door-to-door scheme, that same carve-out reaches the hours and posting rule too: a group canvassing for those purposes is not bound by the 9-to-8 window or by subdivision-level no-soliciting postings the way a commercial seller is. The rule sits inside the same permit section as the Sheriff's Office badge requirement, so a badge does not override a posted sign or the clock; both conditions apply independently to any badge holder working a residential neighborhood in the unincorporated county.
