Cobb County regulates commercial door-to-door solicitation under Code of Ordinances Chapter 90 (Businesses), Article III. Each commercial solicitor β whether selling magazines, pest control, solar panels, alarm systems, or meat/seafood β must apply to the Cobb County Business License Division (770-528-8410) for a Peddler/Solicitor permit. Application requires photo ID, proof of employer's business license, fingerprint-based GCIC/NCIC background check, and a non-refundable fee. Approved solicitors must wear a county-issued photo ID badge at all times on duty. Permissible hours are 9 AM to 7 PM or sunset, whichever is earlier. No Sunday solicitation. Religious canvassing, political campaigning, and charitable fundraising by registered 501(c)(3) organizations are constitutionally exempt (Watchtower v. Stratton). Residents may post a 'No Soliciting' sign to trigger trespass remedies.
Soliciting without permit: Ch. 90 citation $250β$1,000 plus possible trespass charge. No ID badge: $100β$250. After-hours soliciting: $100β$500.
