City Code Chapter 122's Charitable Solicitations subchapter governs any door-to-door request for a donation, or any sale of goods, subscriptions or memberships made for a charitable cause, within Hollywood. 28, the Director of Licensing must issue a permit within ten days of a completed application unless the application contains false statements, the applicant refused to supply required information, or the applicant or an agent has been convicted of fraud or moral turpitude within the prior two years. Each permit must list the applicant's name and address, the permit number and issue date, the specific dates the applicant may solicit, and the names, addresses and phone numbers of everyone who will supervise or be responsible for the solicitation.

A permit runs 90 days from issuance; a group that needs more time must file a renewal application processed the same way as the original, again valid for 90 more days. Permits cannot be transferred or assigned to another person or group. 30; if the Commission upholds the denial, or does not decide within 14 days, the city must seek judicial review within ten days, and the applicant gets an automatic interim permit if the court has not ruled within ten days of filing. 33 lets the Director of Licensing inspect a permit holder's books and records tied to the solicitation at any reasonable time.
