Westland, MI Special Events & Permits: Block Party Permits (2026)

(a)The city council may, by resolution, authorize the director of public service to grant permits for certain uses in any street within the city which the council deems to be for the benefit of the general public.(b)In the absence of provisions to the contrary, the following provisions shall apply to permits authorized or required by the provisions of this chapter:(1)Such permits shall be obtained upon application to the director of public service, upon such forms as the director shall prescribe.(2)Such application shall be deemed an agreement by the applicant to promptly complete the work permitted, observe all pertinent laws and regulations in connection therewith, repair all damage done to the street surface and installations on, over, under or within such street, including trees, and protect and hold the city harmless from all damages or actions at law that may arise or may be brought on account of injury to persons or property resulting from the work done under the permit or in connection therewith.(3)There shall be a charge for each such permit, and such street protection and transportation bonds and liability insurance policies shall be furnished as shall be provided by resolution or ordinance of the city council.
