Nassau County, FL Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Section 23½-13 sets up the primary park-facility group reservation permit in Nassau County's recreation and beach code: primitive group camping at the Burney Park parking area, open year-round to active Florida nonprofit organizations with groups of 10 to 30 people. Each group must obtain a group camping permit through the county public works department, with forms prepared by the public works director and approved by the county manager, and the completed application, including back-up documentation, must be filed at least 30 days before the event.

A group is limited to two camping events a year, non-consecutive, capped at three consecutive nights each, and only one group permit is issued for the same dates. Applicants post a $250 cash, cashier's check or bond cleanup deposit for a three-day permit, sign an indemnification agreement, and provide each camper's name, address, a copy of ID, and proof of the group's nonprofit status. m. The public works director or county manager may deny an application; a denial can be appealed to the Board of County Commissioners.
