Full Breakdown
Aurora Code of Ordinances § 25-340 defines a 'Parklet' as a temporary extension of a business's private terrace into the parking lane of a public street, used for seating, dining, bike racks, or landscaping and capped at two parking spaces or equivalent units. Section 25-341 requires a city permit before installing one, and §§ 25-344 through 25-346 require at least $1,000,000 in liability insurance, an indemnification agreement, and a maintenance agreement covering damage to the street or right-of-way. Permits run seasonally from May 1 through October 31 under § 25-348 and must be renewed annually.
Violations & Fines
Building or maintaining a parklet without a city permit, required insurance, or the maintenance agreement violates § 25-341 and can trigger a notice of violation and revocation under § 25-354.
