Full Breakdown
Aurora's Code of Ordinances limits outdoor alcohol service to businesses that already hold an On-Site Consumption liquor license. To add outdoor seating, the licensee must submit a permit application to the local liquor control commissioner, who holds final approval over every request, along with a dimensioned site plan, written property-owner consent if the licensee doesn't own the space, and proof of general liability, liquor liability, umbrella and workers' compensation insurance. Enclosing barriers must stand between 24 and 72 inches tall and be built of approved materials: chain-link, plastic, vinyl fencing and fabric inserts are all banned. The permit runs concurrent with the liquor license and renews yearly if the seating plan is unchanged.
Violations & Fines
Serving alcohol outdoors without commissioner approval, or violating barrier, insurance or site-plan conditions, can bring suspension or revocation of the liquor license itself.
