Full Breakdown
Hanford Municipal Code § 17.60.110 lets a dining or drinking establishment in an eligible commercial zone extend service onto the public sidewalk, but only after the Community Development Director issues an outdoor dining area permit processed as an administrative use permit under Chapter 17.74. The sidewalk must keep at least four consecutive feet clear for pedestrian and wheelchair traffic at every point, the area must be inspected and approved by the Kings County Health Department before food service begins, and alcohol service requires a 30-to-36-inch railing or barrier plus ABC licensing. The City may order special closures for festivals, parades, street repairs or emergencies at any time.
Violations & Fines
Operating without a permit, or violating its conditions, triggers written notice with seven days to cure; uncured violations mean automatic termination, and the City can bar reapplication for six months.
