Floyd County, GA Special Events & Permits: Street Fair Rules (2026)

1(a)(1) of the Unified Land Development Code sets the baseline standards for any "special outdoor entertainment, or event of community interest" in unincorporated Floyd County, a category that covers vendor fairs, festivals, and similar temporary outdoor gatherings. An event cannot run longer than 14 days and cannot happen more than twice on the same property in a calendar year. Adequate parking and traffic maneuvering space has to be located on the event property itself, not offsite, and no event activity can be conducted within 100 feet of any property line.

The same section adds amplified-sound and lighting limits to the same events. Larger gatherings, carnivals, rodeos, horse shows, community fairs, fairgrounds, and amusement parks, face tighter standards under subsection (a)(2): buildings and activities must sit back at least 200 feet from any property line, the use cannot be located within 500 feet of an adjacent residence's property line, and the site must be enclosed by a wall or fence at least 5 feet high. Because these are principal-use standards rather than a blanket permit requirement, a vendor or organizer still has to secure whatever site plan or special-use approval the underlying zoning district requires before setting up; the article does not by itself authorize the event on land where the use is not already listed as permitted.
