Only vendors authorized by the event sponsor and the City may sell goods or prepare food inside a Grand Rapids street fair or festival's boundaries; unauthorized vending is banned.
(1)Unauthorized Vending Prohibited. No vendors or transient merchants, including commercial and promotional advertising activity, shall be allowed within the event boundaries other than those specifically authorized by the event sponsor(s), as evidenced by a special event permit issued by the City.(2)No Sound Amplification Devices. No person shall operate any sound amplification devices, equipment or systems within the event boundaries other than those systems specifically authorized by the event sponsor(s).(3)No Food Preparation or Sale, Except by Authorized Vendors. No food preparation grills or other food dispensing apparatus are allowed within the event boundaries except those operated by vendors as authorized by the event sponsor(s) and City.

Sec. 4.207 of the Special Events Ordinance bars unauthorized vending and food sales inside any street fair, festival, or other special event boundary. Vendors, transient merchants, and commercial or promotional activity are prohibited unless specifically authorized by the event sponsor and evidenced by the City's special event permit. Food preparation grills and dispensing apparatus are likewise limited to vendors the sponsor and City have authorized. The same section also bars unauthorized sound amplification, motor vehicles, and alcohol within event boundaries.
