Missouri Statewide Deer Feeding Prohibition CWD Zone

The Missouri Conservation Commission, exercising constitutional authority under Article IV, Section 40, has banned recreational deer feeding inside the Chronic Wasting Disease Management Zone covering 38 counties. Regulation 3 CSR 10-4.200 makes it unlawful to place grain, salt blocks, minerals, or other consumable products that attract deer. Limited exceptions exist for feed within 100 feet of an occupied building, feed inaccessible to deer, normal agricultural and forestry operations, and authorized CWD or feral hog management. The rule preempts inconsistent county or municipal action because wildlife regulation is reserved to the Conservation Commission statewide.

Wildlife Code violations are typically class A misdemeanors with fines up to $1,000 and possible loss of hunting privileges; conservation agents may seize feed and equipment.
