Euclid requires minimum 48-inch barrier around all pools over 24 inches deep per Ohio Residential Code Appendix G. Self-closing, self-latching gates opening outward. Latch minimum 54 inches above ground.
Euclid adopts Ohio Residential Code Appendix G for residential pool barriers. Required minimum barrier height is 48 inches measured from ground on the exterior side. Fence openings cannot exceed 4 inches horizontal gap (less than a 4-inch sphere). Chain link requires 1.25 inch or smaller mesh or slats reducing openings to 1.75 inches. Gates must be self-closing and self-latching, opening outward away from the pool. Latch release mechanism must be at least 54 inches above the ground or on the pool side of the gate. Above-ground pools with 48-inch walls and removable ladders may serve as their own barrier. Dwelling walls used as barriers require door alarms or self-closing door hardware. Violations cited under building code with stop-work orders and fines up to 500 dollars per day.
