Ordinance No. 5274 (adopted July 15, 2025, in force since January 11, 2026) rewrote Chapter 22.20 to adopt the 2024 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code, plus Southern Nevada Amendments, as the Swimming Pool and Spa Code of Clark County. That adopted code's barrier chapter sets the fence height, self-closing/self-latching gate, and enclosure specs a pool must meet before the county will sign off. Permitting and inspection run through the Building Administrative Code, Chapter 22.02, per Section 22.20.020. This applies only in unincorporated territory. Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City and Mesquite enforce their own municipal codes, but the Strip resorts on Las Vegas Boulevard sit in unincorporated Paradise and Winchester, so county rules genuinely reach them.
Violations & Fines
Building a pool, or maintaining one, without a code-compliant barrier is a misdemeanor under Section 22.20.030: a fine up to $1,000, up to six months in the county jail, or both, with each day of noncompliance charged as a separate offense.
