Lakewood Township does not set a separate minimum barrier height for a residential pool enclosure in its own zoning text; instead, § 18-803F of the Unified Development Ordinance folds pool fences into its general fence standards, capping height at 8 feet outside the front-yard setback under F8, with the same setback, sight-triangle, and permit-drawing rules in F3 through F9 applying to a pool fence exactly as they do to any other yard fence. What the UDO adds specifically for pools is § 18-803F21, "Private Fences for Pools," which lets an owner apply to exceed that 8-foot cap, and go as high as 14 feet, for a fence whose purpose is visual screening of the pool area.

To get that approval, the applicant must show the fence has the least impact on adjacent properties, obtain written confirmation from every owner of a contiguous property that they have no objection, and submit a letter from a licensed engineer or architect certifying the fence is structurally sound and not a safety hazard. The application goes through the Zoning Officer with a separate Lakewood Township construction permit, and the applicant must notify every contiguous owner by certified mail, giving them 10 days to submit comments or objections, with the mail receipts filed with the Zoning Officer.

3a of the Township's flood damage prevention chapter requires any pool enclosure fence to have openings large enough to pass floodwater and debris, or to obtain a variance if the fence instead relies on the Uniform Construction Code's anti-climb standard, since a solid chain-link or picket enclosure does not meet the open-mesh floodway requirement.
