A pool cannot pass final inspection or be lawfully used until the barrier, gate, latch, and door alarm requirements are satisfied. Removing or disabling a required barrier or alarm later is a code violation and can expose the owner to enforcement penalties and civil liability under the Swimming Pool Safety Act.
