Gates must be self-closing and self-latching, with latches placed at least 54 inches above grade on the exterior side. Barrier openings must not allow passage of a 4-inch sphere. The barrier must completely surround the pool with no gaps. The home itself may serve as part of the barrier if doors have self-closing mechanisms and alarms. Building permits are required for pool construction.
Pools without compliant barriers are subject to stop-use orders, fines, and mandatory correction before the pool can be used.
