The City of Seminole requires a building permit through the Building Department for installation of any in-ground or above-ground residential swimming pool, with construction subject to the Florida Building Code and Chapter 6 of the city ordinances.
Under Chapter 6 of the City of Seminole Code of Ordinances, the city has adopted the Florida Building Code as its construction standard. Pool installation, modification, or replacement requires a building permit issued through the Seminole Building Department at City Hall (9199 113th Street North). Applicants must submit construction plans, a site plan showing setbacks, electrical drawings, and barrier compliance documentation conforming to the Florida Residential Swimming Pool Safety Act (FS 515). Contractors must hold a current state license. Inspections occur at multiple stages including pre-pour, electrical bonding, plumbing, and final barrier compliance before the pool may be filled and used.
Construction without a permit may result in stop-work orders, double permit fees, code enforcement liens under FS 162, and potential demolition of non-compliant work.
