Washoe County requires the designated garbage container (max 32 gallons, 75 pounds) to be placed behind the curb or on the edge of the alley by 7:00 a.m. on the regular collection day (WCC 90.060).
WCC 90.060 sets residential container rules: the weekly charge includes one "designated container" with a maximum capacity of 32 gallons not exceeding 75 pounds, or a container approved by the franchise holder. The residential rate requires that "the designated container be placed behind the curb or on the edge of the alley by 7:00 a.m., on the regular collection day." Additional containers incur an added charge. Multi-family buildings are charged the residential rate per unit and may use dumpsters. Exempt self-haul residents must store garbage so it does not create odors, attract vectors, or become a nuisance (WCC 90.037(3)(a)).
Late-set or extra containers may not be serviced or may incur added charges; unlawful accumulation of garbage on premises is enforceable by the district health officer under WCC 90.100.
