Bulky waste includes appliances, furniture, trees, branches and other oversize items. Forsyth County residents dispose of household garbage, construction debris and yard waste at county landfills (call 336-727-8000), and drop household hazardous waste and electronics free at the 3RC EnviroStation.
Forsyth County Code Sec. 19-1 defines bulky waste as large items such as household appliances, furniture, automobiles, large auto parts, trees, branches, stumps and other oversize wastes whose size complicates normal collection. For landfill disposal of household garbage, construction/demolition debris and yard waste, residents call (336) 727-8000. Household hazardous waste and electronics may be dropped free at the 3RC EnviroStation, 1401 South Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Winston-Salem (Wed–Sat, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.). Refuse such as white goods must be stored so it resists rodents and does not create a fire hazard until disposed.
Improper disposal of bulky waste (e.g., dumping) violates Chapter 19: misdemeanor up to $500 or 30 days plus civil penalty up to $500, each day separate. Illegal dumping may also be prosecuted under N.C.G.S. 14-399.
