Mason County Code § 6.72.041 codifies the Solid Waste Utility Fees charged at the county's transfer and disposal facilities, adopted under the Chapter 6.72 solid waste handling regulation that implements RCW Chapters 70.95 and 36.58. At the Eells Hill Transfer Station in Shelton, the fee for a 'misc. large bulky item' is five dollars and ninety-seven cents, the same rate charged for a single can or bag of garbage up to thirty-two gallons, while general solid waste runs one hundred ten dollars and twenty-seven cents per ton with a minimum fee of seventeen dollars and eighty-nine cents for loads under three hundred forty pounds.

At the smaller Belfair, Hoodsport, and Union solid waste facilities, the same 'misc. large bulky items' charge is twenty-two dollars and sixty-one cents, matching the minimum fee for less than a cubic yard of waste at those sites. Both fee tables note that rates increase every year by the August-to-August Consumer Price Index, and the county must follow the solid waste collection rate-increase notice procedure required by RCW 35A.21.152 before raising them. There is no chapter authorizing curbside bulk or brush collection in unincorporated Mason County; residents and haulers instead bring large items directly to one of these county facilities and pay by item rather than by weight.

Waste handled outside the normal residential drop-off, such as a business generating volumes beyond typical household disposal, is reclassified as commercial solid waste handling under § 6.72.030(h)(2) and needs its own permit from the Mason County Community Services Department's Environmental Health Division.
