Single-family customers get four free bulky-item/cleanup pickups in a rolling 12 months, scheduled at least 8 weeks apart through Milpitas Sanitation. Each event allows up to three large items or two company-provided bags, set out by 6:00 a.m.
Milpitas Sanitation runs an On-Call Bulky Item/Cleanup program for single-family residents at no extra charge. Each household is entitled to four bulky-item or cleanup pickups in a rolling 12-month period, with each appointment scheduled no less than eight weeks apart. Per event, customers choose one option: up to two company-provided 1.5-cubic-yard bags, up to fourteen standard 32-gallon household garbage bags, or up to three large bulky items. Qualifying items include furniture, appliances, mattresses, exercise equipment, housewares, small rugs, clothing, and toys that can't be donated; individual items cannot exceed 75 pounds. Prohibited materials include concrete, dirt, brick, rock, treated wood waste, hazardous materials, and loose materials outside the bags. Items must be at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day and kept clear of obstructions. Residents who need more than the included events, or who exceed the per-event limits, can pay a fee for additional collections or items. Milpitas Sanitation also offers two free self-haul vouchers per year to the Zanker facility, and the City sponsors neighborhood cleanup events. Schedule all pickups by calling Milpitas Sanitation at 408-988-4500.
Service is provided under the Milpitas Sanitation franchise (MMC Chapter 200). Items over 75 lb, prohibited materials, or sets exceeding the per-event limit may be left or charged a fee; appointments must be 8 weeks apart.
