Full Breakdown

Household trash, separate from the weekly garbage cart service, is collected every other week. The free limit is about two cubic yards (three feet by three feet by six feet), or the equivalent of 15 bags of leaves, per household. Piles over that limit are treated as an oversized load: residents can contact the city to have it removed for a size-based fee, and the department of public services may collect payment before hauling it away. Trash over the limit that isn't paid for is left uncollected with a corrective notice explaining the violation.

Violations & Fines

Exceeding the free quantity limit under Sec. 25-6(b) means the excess goes uncollected and the household gets a corrective notice; unpaid oversized loads can also trigger a chapter 25 violation and fine.
