Tangipahoa Parish, LA Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Section 38-192(b)(4) sets the collection-frequency floor for the parish-wide solid waste plan: all approved collectors must provide a minimum of once-weekly collection service to any residential unit in unincorporated Tangipahoa Parish. Residents and their collector can agree to additional or optional services beyond that weekly minimum, such as extra pickups or bulkier service, but the parish does not mandate more than the weekly floor. Subsection (b)(5) leaves the monthly charge for that once-weekly service to private agreement between the resident and the collector, meaning the parish does not set a uniform rate; residents who want to compare providers can request the full list of licensed haulers serving the parish under subsection (b)(7) and contract with whichever hauler they choose.

Collectors are permitted to keep their existing customer lists, routes and territories while also expanding parish-wide under subsection (b)(6). Every collector must hold a solid waste collector's permit issued by the parish council-president government and operate under the TPG Waste Hauler Permit Agreement, and any approved collector that refuses service to any part of unincorporated Tangipahoa Parish risks having that permit revoked under subsection (b)(3)a. The parish president or a designee handles compliance by first contacting a noncompliant collector directly to identify the violation and the fix needed before escalating to permit revocation, per subsection (b)(8), except for open-burning violations which are handled separately elsewhere in chapter 38.
