Full Breakdown

Section 18-5 makes the Environmental Waste Services Division the exclusive collector for single-family homes and duplexes. Solid waste and landscape (yard) waste are picked up weekly; recyclables run on a bi-weekly cycle. Each address gets one city-owned 95-gallon cart at no charge, and heavy generators must add a second cart. Carts and bags must reach the proper collection point by 7:00 a.m. (Section 18-15) or they may be skipped, and street carts can't be set out more than 12 hours early. The director can revise schedules for holidays. Bulky waste is collected one day per month.

Violations & Fines

Missing the 7:00 a.m. deadline, setting street carts out more than 12 hours before pickup, or overloading a cart past 200 pounds means it won't be serviced. Ongoing code violations carry daily fines under Section 1-4(a).
