Taylor, MI Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Taylor City Code § 20-184(b) requires all residential, commercial and multiple-dwelling solid waste, recyclable materials and yard waste intended for disposal by the city's contracted hauler to be placed in the containers described in Sec. 20-186, set at the street or another location designated by the director of public services. No container may be placed for collection until 6:00 p.m. the night before scheduled collection, and every empty container must be removed from the collection point no later than 8:00 p.m. the day of collection.

Sec. 20-184(c) requires anyone who collects, transports, delivers, disposes or removes solid waste, yard waste or recyclable material generated in the city to first obtain a license from the city clerk and pay the council-set license fee, though the licensing rule does not apply to a lawn care service removing yard waste from a customer's own property. Sec. 20-184(d) requires every license holder to comply with all city rules and all applicable federal, state, county and local law on collection, transportation and disposal, and Sec. 20-184(e) requires collection vehicles and containers to remain weathertight so contents cannot spill on public ways or create a nuisance.
