Anne Arundel County, MD Trash & Recycling: Holiday Pickup Schedule (2026)

Anne Arundel County Code § 13-4-103 lets the Director establish solid waste collection service areas anywhere in the County except the City of Annapolis, and lets the Director have waste collected by County employees or by independent contractors. The code prints no holiday clause, so the working rule is the schedule the Bureau of Waste Management Services publishes. That covers the unincorporated communities, including Glen Burnie, Severna Park, Pasadena and Odenton, where the County is the only local government.

For 2026 the County's holiday page lists six holidays that interrupt curbside collection: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Thanksgiving Friday and Christmas. The printed shifts are as follows. New Year's Day, Jan 1 (Thur): Thursday collections occur Friday and Friday collections occur Saturday. Memorial Day, May 25 (Mon): Monday collections occur Tuesday and Tuesday collections occur Wednesday. Labor Day, Sep 7 (Mon): Monday collections occur Tuesday and Tuesday collections occur Wednesday. Thanksgiving Day, Nov 26 (Thur): Thursday collections occur Friday. Thanksgiving Friday, Nov 27 (Fri): Friday collections occur Saturday. Christmas, Dec 25 (Fri): Friday collections occur Saturday.

The table also lists holidays with no shift for curbside service. MLK Birthday, Presidents' Day, Good Friday, Juneteenth, Election Day and the Friday Jul 3 observed Independence Day read "Normal collections will occur", while Saturday Jul 4 and Veterans Day read "No collection changes". The landfill and recycling centers are marked Closed on every one of these dates, including the ones where curbside runs normally.

The County's two pages differ slightly. The main Curbside Collection page says material is collected on the regular day "unless that day falls on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day", and adds that inclement weather also delays collection. The 2026 holiday page lists Thanksgiving Friday instead of Independence Day as an interruption. Both are reported here as the County prints them.
