Bonneville County, ID Trash & Recycling: Illegal Dumping (2026)

11(A) makes it unlawful, except at an official solid waste disposal site, for any person to throw away, dump or discard solid waste or litter, or to aid, assist or allow it, on any public lands, rights-of-way of any kind, or private lands anywhere in the county. 11(B) closes the site itself outside its hours: it is unlawful to dump or discard solid waste at an official disposal site at any time other than the regular business hours and days during which the site is open to the public.

These provisions come from the Solid Waste Management Ordinance, Ord. 255-23, adopted August 16, 2023, which established the County Transfer Station on Hemert Drive and the County Landfill at Peterson Hill as the only official sites for lawful disposal. 12 backs this up on the hauling side, making it unlawful for anyone to load or transport solid waste in a way that lets it drop or fall onto public or private land, and requiring all haulers, commercial or not, to cover their loads. 99(A)(3) additionally lets the Board seek a court injunction against anyone engaged in or about to engage in illegal dumping, on top of the criminal and civil remedies.
