Full Breakdown
County Code § 5-2978, part of the Organic Waste Diversion Ordinance, requires single-family organic waste generators to subscribe to the county's organic waste collection service, adjust service levels as the county requests, and place designated materials in separate containers matching their licensed collector's system, without contaminants. Generators may instead manage waste on-site or use community composting under 14 CCR § 18984.9(c), and self-haulers meeting § 5-2984's requirements are exempt from subscribing.
Violations & Fines
Placing prohibited contaminants in organics or recycling containers, or failing to subscribe to required collection service, is enforced by Public Works under the chapter's enforcement provisions in § 5-2986.
