WM (Waste Management) became Fort Lauderdale's environmental services provider in July 2023. Trash is collected twice a week on scheduled days. All trash must be bagged before placing in the black trash cart. Recycling is collected once a week on the scheduled day. The blue recycling cart accepts paper, glass containers, plastic containers (#1-7), metal cans, and cardboard. No plastic bags should be placed in the recycling cart. Yard waste is collected separately. Residents can find their specific schedule using the city's interactive collection map at the Fort Lauderdale website or by contacting the Neighbor Support Center at 954-828-8000.
Contaminated recycling carts may not be collected. Trash placed out on non-collection days may result in code enforcement notices. Contact WM customer service or the Neighbor Support Center at 954-828-8000.
