Curbside trash pickup is run by each city or hauler, not the county. The county Solid Waste District operates the Moraine transfer station (open 6am-7pm weekdays), where trash is $30.50 per ton plus state and district fees.
In Montgomery County, weekly curbside collection schedules and set-out rules are set by your municipality or its contracted hauler. County government's role is the Montgomery County Solid Waste District, which runs the transfer and recycling facility at 1001 Encrete Lane, Moraine. Residents may self-haul trash there Monday-Friday 6am-7pm and Saturday 8am-3pm (closed Sunday). Disposal is $30.50 per ton for trash and appliances, plus a $4.75/ton Ohio EPA fee and a $3.65/ton district fee. As of January 2026 the district's Tarp Rule requires all open loads entering the facility to be covered with a tarp or similar device.
Set-out and collection violations are enforced by each city. At the transfer station, uncovered open loads violate the 2026 Tarp Rule and may be refused or surcharged.
