Under Article II of Chapter 8, Health and Sanitation, the City of Tarpon Springs is the exclusive provider of solid waste collection. Residential garbage pickup occurs Mondays and Thursdays, and all containers must be at curbside no later than 7 a.m. on collection day. Residents may set out up to five 32-gallon garbage cans per pickup, and cans must have tight-fitting lids. Containers may be placed at the curb no earlier than 12 hours before collection and must be removed within 12 hours after collection. After pickup, containers must be relocated out of public view from the right-of-way. Improperly contained or overflowing waste may not be collected.
Containers left curbside beyond the 12-hour window or visible from the street between pickups may trigger code enforcement notices, citations, and fines.
