St. Petersburg residents follow a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday twice-weekly trash pickup schedule under Chapter 27 Article V solid waste rules administered by the city sanitation department.
Article V of Chapter 27 of the City Code governs solid waste collection, disposal, and storage in St. Petersburg. Single-family and small multifamily addresses receive twice-weekly garbage collection on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday with no Wednesday service. Sec. 27-497 sets requirements for residential containers, and the city issues a black wheeled cart or, for alley-served addresses, a shared 300-gallon container used by three to four homes. Carts must be placed at the curb or in the alley after 7 p.m. the night before service and removed by 7 p.m. on collection day. Residents in flooded or severe-weather situations follow city-issued schedule changes. Mandatory service fees are billed on the city utility bill.
Setting out trash early, leaving carts at the curb after collection day, or using improper containers can result in warning notices and code enforcement fines under Chapter 27 Article V.
