St. Petersburg does not impose a citywide overnight street parking ban, but downtown residential permit zones, posted no-parking blocks, and oversized-vehicle rules still apply at night.
Chapter 26, Article IV controls when and where vehicles may sit on a public street overnight. Outside of posted no-parking zones and time-limited blocks, passenger cars may stay parked along most residential streets through the night. Downtown residential parking permit zones (1A, 1B, 2, and 4) require a virtual permit for vehicles parked overnight. Sleeping in a parked vehicle on a public street is restricted under separate provisions of the Code, and oversized commercial vehicles or unhitched trailers may not be left overnight on residential streets. Posted street sweeping or special-event signs override standard overnight allowances.
Tickets are issued for posted-zone violations, expired permits, and oversized vehicle infractions. Repeat or unpaid citations can lead to booting or towing.
