St. Petersburg lets residents park boats, RVs, and similar domestic equipment up to 35 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 12 feet tall in rear or interior side yards, with limited Thursday-to-Monday placement allowed in front of the home.
Section 16.40.090 of the Land Development Regulations governs storage of boats, motor homes, travel trailers, and utility trailers at residential properties. Equipment that does not exceed 35 by 8 by 12 feet may be stored in a rear yard, an interior side yard, or fully enclosed. A driveway placement is allowed Friday through Sunday, and temporary front-yard placement is permitted from Thursday afternoon to Monday morning so long as visibility, sidewalks, and the roadway are not blocked. A maximum of two pieces of domestic equipment may be kept on a residential lot, and any boat or equipment within 50 feet of the curb must be screened by a six-foot privacy fence.
Codes Compliance issues a Notice of Violation upon observation. Failure to remove the equipment by the compliance date can lead to escalating civil fines under Chapter 9.
