Edinburg, TX Trash & Recycling: Recycling Requirements (2026)

Edinburg's Solid Waste Department collects recyclables curbside every week, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., contingent on the resident following the sorting rules for the program. All recycling carts remain city property, and it's the resident's or business's job to keep them clean and free of contamination. City crews spot-check routes under a "tag" program: a contaminated cart gets tagged and skipped rather than emptied, and after three tags the cart is picked up entirely, with a 30-day wait and a signed agreement with the Recycling Coordinator required to get it back. Commercial customers can also join the program voluntarily and receive a container at no charge. A separate drop-off site at 3102 South Highway 281 takes cardboard, newspaper, office paper, aluminum and steel cans, plastics #1 and #2, phone books and magazines seven days a week.
