County Code § 6.40.050(B) makes subscription mandatory: owners and occupants of single-family, multi-family, and commercial premises in unincorporated Alameda County must sign up for solid waste, recyclable-materials, and organic-waste collection through a hauler the county has authorized. The rule applies countywide except inside the Castro Valley Sanitary District and Oro Loma Sanitary District, which run their own SB 1383 programs, and inside any of the county's 14 incorporated cities, which are not covered by this chapter at all. Waivers exist only as the county's own separately adopted waste regulations define them.
