Brockton, MA Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Sec. 1(h) of the City Code defines yard waste to include leaves, needles, grass clippings, weeds, hedge clippings, garden materials, and tree limbs: pieces under two inches in diameter must be cut to four feet or less and tied, while limbs up to four inches in diameter must also be cut to four feet or less and bundled at no more than thirty-five pounds. Sec. 2(c) requires the material to go out in a properly identified reusable yard waste container of no more than thirty-two gallons, in Kraft paper bags, or in tied bundles of brush and limbs weighing no more than thirty-five pounds; yard waste set out in plastic bags will not be collected.

The seasonal schedule in Sec. 4 runs weekly collection from May 1 through June 30 and again from November 1 through December 15, switching to bi-weekly service from July 1 through October 31. Nonliving holiday trees may also be set at the curb for the two weeks following December 25 under Sec. 2(e); after that window closes, leftover trees are collected under the same rules as yard waste.
